Beauty Therapy: Privately Funded Courses

Every NVQ consists of a number of units, such as manicures, waxing, facials and so on. You will need to gain theoretical knowledge as well as the practical skills for each unit. You will be assessed (tested) through a variety of methods – such as practical observations of assessments, written tests and questioning. The majority will take place at the training school, although some may also be carried out at your placement salon.

Functional skills

Functional Skills are those core elements of English and Mathematics that provide individuals with the skills and abilities they need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life, their communities and work. Individuals possessing these skills are able to progress in education, training and employment. Functional Skills in mathematics are assessed by one single test paper at Levels 1 or 2. Functional Skills in English are assessed in three units:

1. * Speaking,
2. * Listening & Communicating;
3. * Reading & Writing.

Aim of the course

Attendance: Learners are required to attend college 2 full days per week over 1 academic year or alternatively 1 day per week over 2 academic years.

Cost: £1,125.00 which equates to only £14.80 per day’s session

This course gives students the very best all round start to a career in beauty therapy. All the basic skills of beauty therapy are covered including  manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing, make-up and eye and brow treatments. The course also includes training in health and safety, personal development, reception, retailing and client care. You will learn through a mixture of theory and practical sessions.

* To enable the candidate to achieve a City & Guilds qualification in beauty therapy.
* To enable the candidate to gain employment within the beauty industry.

Introducing the world of hot stone therapy and taking massage onto the next level. Using stones taken from mother earth you will be given new ways to give your client pure relaxation.

This treatment works with pressure and touch using hot and cold techniques, to not only massage but alleviate tension, inflammation, sinus congestion, aches and pains and combines deep, muscular tissue work.

The course is mainly practical and you do not need to have any massage knowledge in order to attend the course.

This relaxing treatment has the advantage of being able to be performed whilst on a massage couch or chair.

Eye treatments improve the appearance of the eye area and can have a dramatic effect. In this qualification you will learn how to shape the eyebrows to both remove eyebrow hair and create a new shape or to define the client’s natural eyebrow shape. You will also learn how tinting the eyelashes and eyebrows can make the lashes look longer, and the eye brows thicker and more defined, while still appearing natural.
