EMPLOYERS INFORMATION |
Apprenticeships provide both on the job, and off the job, training and are thus an effective way for any student to gain a qualification whilst being in employment at the same time. You, as an employer, also take active part in training your student through in salon training sessions, and so forth. |
Intuitions contracts with the Learning and Skills Council and as such there is no cost to the employer in respect of the apprenticeship placement. Nevertheless, the apprentice would be your employee and as such has to receive a wage, a contract of employment, and be protected by all relevant employment legislation. |
Your trainee is expected to attend the training school regularly – through a day release scheme (1 day per week for beauty therapy students, 1 day per fortnight for hairdressing students). For the rest of the time they would be working for you in your salon. |
In addition, Intuitions training co-ordinator would visit the student in their placement to carry out a progress review on a 6 – 8 weekly basis. The employer plays an important part in the review process as co-operation and communication between Intuitions and the placement salon are vital to the student’s success. | |
Under its contractual obligations Intuitions is also required to review the health and safety arrangements of each placement salon. |
On placing a student with Intuitions, you would receive a comprehensive Employer Handbook as well as Employer Health and Safety Handbook. |
Delivery of training takes place within Intuitions premises on Tower Street in Harrogate where students receive both theory input and practical training. Assessments also take place within the training school, although practical assessments may also be undertaken in the placement salon where an appropriately qualified assessor is present (D32/D33, A2). |
Intuitions currently contracts with salons in the Harrogate District, Ripon, Leeds, York, Thirsk and Wetherby. |
